Small Towns

There is something magical in the architecture of small towns. It is the balance between what used to be, and what is yet to come. All too often in our big cities, when a structure does not fit its new intended purpose, our initial reaction is to tear it down and build anew on the same ground. However, in smaller communities, there tends to be fewer resources available for such grandiose plans, and more often than not, the structures are repurposed, even though they are less than ideal for their new task. You can’t see these buildings while driving down the interstate. You often can’t see them simply by driving down Main Street. You must walk among them. And as you do, you start to see glimpses into their past lives, and how they may not quite fit in with the brand new Wal-mart right down the block. This series attempts to document some of these glimpses into the stories these structures tell.
